Apple iPhone 7 has one major selling point: longer battery life. Based on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s claims, the iPhone 7 has the most durable of any iPhone the company has ever produced. But if you take the comparison a little further and bring Android smartphone into the picture, you end up with a different and perhaps embarrassing picture for Apple.
Product-testing firm, Which, took it upon itself to prove or disapprove Apple’s claims regarding iPhone 7 battery life; which compared the durability of iPhone 7 battery with that of Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC 10 and iPhone 7 came last.
While Apple iPhone 7 batteries lasted 12 hours of talk time on a single charge and 10 hours of Internet surfing on a single charge, Galaxy S7 did much more. In fact, Galaxy S7 lasted more than double the time of iPhone 7 for both call time and surfing. HTC 10 beat them all, logging more than 30 hours of call time on a single charge.

Is Apple iPhone 7 battery claim too bullish?
Apple claims that iPhone 7 battery can last 14 hours of talk time and 12 hours of surfing time. Though Apple might be right to say that iPhone 7 has the most advanced battery in its portfolio, Which finding shows that Apple still has a long way to go to catch up with Android rivals.
Why the huge difference
It isn’t surprising that iPhone 7 battery only last just nearly half the time of competitors Galaxy S7 and HTC 10. You find that the iPhone 7 is only equipped with a 1960mAh battery, yet the HTC 10 boasts a 3,000mAh battery. That shows the huge desperately in the battery performance of iPhone 7 compared to HTC 10 and Galaxy S7.
“It should hardly be surprising that one battery nearly half the size of another offers roughly half as much charge,” Which said in a statement.
But Which’s conclusion could spoil the sales party for iPhone 7. Given that the iPhone only features minimal design upgrade compared to its predecessor iPhone 6S, most of the people buying iPhone 7 are enticed by its longer battery life as Apple claims. So, if it turns out that Galaxy S7 and HTC 10 are offering durable battery with competitive features and price, Apple iPhone 7 could lose a major selling point.
Apple stock dipped 0.47% in the last session to close the day at $112.52.
